Overview
Trafalgar Law (OP14-001) is a Red Heart Pirates / Supernovas leader from OP14: Wings of the Captain. In the current post-banlist meta (41 events, 855 registered players since October 12, 2026), Law holds a 1.8% meta share (15 of 855 players) with a 46.5% non-mirror win rate (33-38-1, 71 matches). Three top-cut decklists are on record, and the typical list runs approximately $124.
Law's leader ability defines the deck: [Activate: Main] [Once Per Turn] Select 2 of your {Supernovas} or {Heart Pirates} type Characters. Swap the base power of the selected Characters with each other during this turn. On its face this sounds like a stat shuffle, but the deck is built to exploit every conditional ability that fires when a character reaches a power threshold — turning a 1-cost 0-power body into a 10000-power swing, or a 2-cost 2000-power character into a Rush attacker.
How Law wins
The game plan has two distinct phases. Early turns are spent flooding the board with low-cost Supernovas searchers. Basil Hawkins (OP14-010) is a 1-cost 2000-power Supernova; when he is K.O.'d, he looks at the top 5 cards of your deck and plays another Supernova with 2000 or less power — meaning every time the opponent removes Hawkins, another cheap body replaces it. Monkey.D.Luffy (OP14-013) is a 1-cost 0-power Supernova Straw Hat cantrip: on play, it looks at 5 cards and adds 1 Supernova to hand. The event I Have a Plan to Take Down One of the Four Emperors!! (OP14-019) does the same at 1-cost: looks at 4 cards, adds 1 Supernova or Straw Hat Crew Character. These three cards together give Law consistent access to his entire Supernovas roster within the first two turns.
The midgame is where Law's ability creates its signature swings. Cavendish (OP14-004) is a 2-cost 2000-power Supernova with a conditional: if this Character has 5000 power or more, it gains [Rush]. By using the leader ability to swap Cavendish with a character holding 5000 or more base power — Eustass Kid (OP14-014), X.Drake (OP14-016), or any other — Cavendish becomes a Rush attacker on the same turn. The opponent cannot block a Cavendish swing they did not see coming from a 2-cost body. Urouge (OP14-002) has an analogous payoff: a 3-cost 2000-power Supernova that, when attacking with 5000 or more power, draws 1 card and K.O.s up to 1 opponent Character with 3000 or less base power. Swap Urouge's power up to 5000, attack, draw a card, remove a small blocker — all from a 3-cost play.
Eustass Kid (OP14-014) is the deck's 4-cost engine piece: 5000-power Blocker that, on play, puts a red Character with 2000 power or less from your hand onto the field. That trigger replays one of the cheap Supernovas (Luffy OP14-013, Hawkins, or the Luffy swap targets) for free, keeping the board full while the leader ability recycles power. X.Drake (OP14-016) is a 5-cost 7000-power defensive pivot: on the opponent's turn, if any of your Supernovas would be removed by an opponent's effect, X.Drake may give your leader −2000 power for the turn instead. This protects the board state through a wipe and keeps swapped characters alive through the next attack step.
Lucky.Roux (PRB02-003) is the premium support piece: a 4-cost 2000-power Blocker for the Red-Haired Pirates that, on play, lets you trash a Character with 6000 or more power from hand to draw 2 cards. With Trafalgar Law OP14-009 as a natural 10000-power hand discard target, Lucky.Roux converts a card you cannot play yet into immediate card advantage. The 2000 base power also makes Lucky.Roux a legal swap target, letting it temporarily hold 7000-10000 power for a swing before reverting.
The late game centers on Trafalgar Law (OP14-009): a 9-cost 10000-power Rush character with a reactive swap — once per turn on the opponent's attack, you may trash 2 cards from hand to swap the base power of your leader and 1 character. This turns the leader's 5000 base into a 10000-power blocker while converting a weaker character into the leader's original 5000, creating a defensive wall without spending DON!!. Combined with Edward.Newgate (OP17-005) — a 10-cost 12000-power Red character that costs −4 when the opponent controls a 10000+ power Character — the deck closes games with two consecutive Rush swings at 10000-12000 into a depleted opponent board.

Matchup context
Law's power-swap engine rewards careful sequencing and punishes opponents who over-commit to a few large bodies that cannot block the unexpected Rush attackers Law produces. The deck struggles against fast wide boards and consistent draw engines that outpace the swap setup time.
- vs Luffy & Ace ST30-001 (Red/Green): 71% win rate (5-2, 7 matches — paper; small sample). Luffy & Ace builds a wide board via its leader ability, but the individual bodies are often in the 3000–5000 power range that Law's swapped Urouge can K.O. on attack. The 7-match sample is too small to trust, but the matchup logic favors Law's conditional removal through the swap engine. Treat this as a potentially favored read, not a confirmed edge.
- vs Rocks.D.Xebec OP17-039 (Blue/Black): 31% win rate (4-9 estimated, 14 matches — paper). Xebec's draw engine outpaces the Supernovas search package, and Blue removal neutralizes swapped characters before their conditional abilities trigger. With 12.8% meta share, Xebec is the most common matchup and Law's worst result — this is the primary reason Law sits below the 50% win-rate threshold overall.
- Going 1st vs 2nd (ladder): Law is significantly stronger going first — 53.7% first (479 games) vs 37.9% second (227 games) on optcg.one. This is one of the larger first-pick biases among current Red leaders, suggesting the swap engine requires early tempo that going second frequently cannot recover.

Is Trafalgar Law worth building?
At 1.8% play rate and 46.5% win rate, Law is a Tier 2 niche pick. The deck is mechanically unique — no other current leader runs the base-power swap engine on the leader itself — and games where the opponent cannot answer both the low-cost board flood and the conditional Rush triggers can end suddenly from unexpected angles. The going-first advantage is real and playable in a local meta where you can predict play-order preference.
The deck's cost is moderate. Lucky.Roux (PRB02-003) is the premium gating card at $20 for standard art; without it, budget lists skip Lucky.Roux and run additional Jewelry Bonney (OP14-007) or Shachi & Penguin (OP14-006) as low-cost hand-cycling replacements. Monkey.D.Luffy (OP14-013) at $5.36 is the second notable cost, but four copies are core to the deck's search engine. The rest of the Supernovas package runs under $1 each.
If you are chasing top-cut finishes in the current Xebec and Luffy & Ace meta, Law is not the optimal choice. If you want a unique Red leader that rewards technical play and exploits conditional abilities differently from every other deck in the format, OP14-001 Law offers a genuinely different experience at a reasonable price.
